The Practice
Every Cairn session begins with a symbol — a single card, drawn for the day. What follows is small and repeatable: draw, reflect, deepen, sit. None of it is done by the cards. It is done by the attention you bring to them.
Draw
Draw one card. Pause before interpreting it. Spend a moment with the image or the word. Notice what arises — an emotion, a memory, a sensation, an idea, or even resistance.
The symbols don't predict the future or tell you what to think. Each simply offers a place to begin.
Reflect
Then write. Describe what feels true today. There are no right answers. The practice is not about finding the correct meaning of the card. It is about paying attention to your own experience.
Every reflection is saved. Over time, your journal becomes a record of your inner life — not because the cards contain answers, but because they reveal what was present when you encountered them. Looking back across weeks, months, and years, you'll begin to notice patterns that are difficult to see in any single day.
Deepen
When you want to go further, Deepen responds to what you've written and asks the next question — the one that takes your thinking past where it usually stops. You decide each time whether to use it, and nothing you write leaves your device unless you do. Available with Cairn Plus.
Sit
Close in silence. Sit somewhere comfortable, upright, and supported enough that the body can relax. Let the breath be natural — don't count it, don't control it. Place attention on one anchor you can return to. Notice thoughts as they arise, and let them pass. When you've left the anchor, return to it.
That is the practice. You don't need a tradition. Sit. Return.
